Grubby AI Humanizer – Does It Actually Work? My Honest Review

I keep seeing ads for Grubby AI Humanizer everywhere so I finally decided to test it myself. Here’s what happened.

The Test Setup

I took three ChatGPT-generated essays (about 800 words each) covering different topics: a persuasive essay on climate policy, an analytical paper on social media effects, and a reflective essay about study abroad. I ran all three through Grubby and then checked each output with Turnitin and GPTZero.

Results

The persuasive essay went from 98% AI to about 35% AI on Turnitin. Not great. The analytical paper dropped to 22%, which is better but still in the danger zone at most schools. The reflective essay did best at 12% AI detection.

GPTZero results were similar. Two out of three still flagged as “likely AI-generated” which is a problem.

Output Quality

The biggest issue I had with Grubby was readability. Some sentences came out awkward, almost like they were translated from another language. Phrases like “the concerning matter of environmental degradation presents itself” instead of something a student would actually write.

I also noticed it tends to make content longer by adding filler phrases, which is the opposite of what you want in academic writing where conciseness matters.

Compared to Alternatives

When I tested the same essays through Walter Writes, all three came back under 5% on Turnitin and the output read naturally. The difference in quality was pretty stark. Grubby might work for very basic content but for anything academic I’d look elsewhere.

Verdict

Grubby AI Humanizer is a mixed bag. It works sometimes on certain types of content but the inconsistency makes it hard to recommend, especially when better options exist at similar price points. Save yourself the guessing game.
