GPTZero was one of the first dedicated AI text detectors, launched by a Princeton student in January 2023. It analyzes perplexity and burstiness patterns to classify text as human or AI-written. The tool is used by some universities alongside or instead of Turnitin, and student reports on its accuracy range widely.
