How to check your own essay for AI detection before submitting
Putting this together because the information out there is scattered and often outdated. Everything here is current as of late 2026.
Let me break this down into manageable steps. I have personally gone through this process and can vouch for the approach.
First you need to understand the landscape. Things have changed dramatically in the last 6 months and a lot of the advice from early 2026 is already outdated. What worked in January does not necessarily work now.

I disagree with some of your conclusions but appreciate the thorough testing. The methodology was solid even if I interpret the results differently.
This post should be pinned. So many students come here asking the same questions and this covers basically everything.

This is super helpful thank you for putting this together. Saving this for when I need it during finals.
Totally agree with this. Same experience here.
