Is using QuillBot cheating? what your school policy probably says

This is one of the most debated questions in student forums right now. The answer depends on how you’re using it and what your school’s specific policy says.

When QuillBot Is Generally Okay

Most schools allow using QuillBot the same way they allow using a thesaurus. If you’ve written your own text and use QuillBot to find better ways to express your ideas or to improve clarity, that’s generally acceptable. You’re still the author of the ideas and the substance.

Similarly, using QuillBot to paraphrase source material that you then cite properly is standard academic practice. The tool helps you avoid accidentally using too many of the original author’s exact words.

When QuillBot Crosses the Line

Problems arise when students use QuillBot to paraphrase AI-generated text and submit it as their own. That’s essentially using two tools to disguise the fact that you didn’t write anything. Most AI policies would classify this as a violation.
