Study Group Check-in: Who’s Struggling Right Now?

0

Hey everyone, just a check-in. January is rough for a lot of people—you’re back in classes after a break, assignments are ramping up, and that initial motivation from September is pretty much gone.

I’m struggling with my quantum mechanics course. The concepts just aren’t clicking, and I feel like I’m falling behind. I know I should reach out for help but somehow it feels easier to just stress about it.

So real talk: who else is finding this month harder than expected? What subject area is getting to you? We could organize some study groups if people are interested in specific topics. Sometimes explaining something to someone else or hearing how they understand it makes the whole thing clearer.

No judgment here—we’re all figuring it out.

OMG YES I AM STRUGGLING SO MUCH!!! My organic chemistry exam is in like 3 weeks and I feel like I don't understand ANYTHING and I'm honestly on the verge of a complete meltdown!!! 😭😭😭 Like I understand basic concepts but when it comes to reaction mechanisms I just... blank out??? And everyone around me seems to understand it so easily and I feel so stupid compared to them... I would LOVE to do a study group but I'm also worried that I'll slow everyone down...

struggling with my economics course. the math isn't hard its just that i dont see why we care about any of it. like sure interest rates matter but why should i memorize 15 different economic models to understand them. feels like busy work dressed up as education. thinking about dropping it but then itll mess up my requirements so im just kind of stuck suffering through it

I get the frustration. The models feel abstract until you apply them to real situations. Try finding case studies or news articles that use the concepts you're learning—seeing the application helps make it stick. And sometimes just accepting that you're going to learn things that feel disconnected from reality is part of the process. Your brain is getting trained even if it doesn't feel useful right now.
