how to appeal a false AI detection flag at your university
Putting this together because the information out there is scattered and often outdated. Everything here is current as of late 2026.\n\nLet me break this down into manageable steps. I have personally gone through this process and can vouch for the approach.\n\nFirst you need to understand the landscape. Things have changed dramatically in the last 6 months and a lot of the advice from early 2026 is already outdated. What worked in January does not necessarily work now.\n\nLet me know if you have questions or want me to share more details about my experience.

Log In to ReplyJust went through this exact situation last month. Ended up having to do an oral defense of my paper which was actually fine because I wrote every word myself.
My university just updated their AI policy and it is actually pretty reasonable. They focus on disclosure and learning rather than punishment.
I wonder how these tools handle collaborative writing. My program has a lot of group projects and the AI detection on those must be a nightmare.
This needs to be higher up. More people need to see this.
