Real Talk: Mental Health in College – You’re Not Alone
I know this is a study forum but I think we need to talk about this because nobody does.
I almost dropped out last semester. Not because of grades – I had a 3.6 GPA. But because I was having panic attacks before every exam, couldn’t sleep, couldn’t eat properly, and was isolating from everyone. I thought something was deeply wrong with me because everyone else seemed fine.
Turns out: they weren’t fine either. When I finally opened up to my roommate she literally started crying and said she’d been feeling the exact same way.
Here’s what I learned:
– Campus counseling is free at most universities. USE IT. I put it off for 6 months and wish I hadn’t.
– Anxiety before exams is normal. Anxiety that prevents you from functioning is not, and there’s help for it.
– Taking a mental health day is not weakness. Missing one class to reset is better than burning out for 3 weeks.
– Exercise genuinely helps. I started walking 30 minutes a day and it made a noticeable difference in my anxiety levels.
– Your GPA does not define your worth. I had to learn this the hard way.
– Social media makes it look like everyone else is thriving. They’re not. Everyone is struggling with something.
If you’re going through it right now, please know that it gets better and you’re not alone. Drop a comment if you want to talk or if you have your own tips for managing stress. Sometimes just knowing other people understand helps.

Log In to ReplyQuesto post è importantissimo, grazie Amara.
The exercise tip is so real. I started going to the gym 3x a week last semester after my therapist suggested it and honestly it changed everything. Not just for anxiety but for focus too. Even just a 20 min walk before studying helps me concentrate way better. Also sleep. Getting 7+ hours instead of pulling all nighters improved literally every aspect of my life.
needed this today. been having a rough week and feeling like im failing at everything even though my grades are technically fine. the part about social media is SO true - i deleted instagram last month and my mental health improved almost immediately. everyone posting their highlight reel while im sitting here stressed about a midterm was not helping at all
my roommate showed me this thread and now we're both using the method, it's working great so far
crying reading this because i literally thought i was the only one. i've been having the worst anxiety this semester and i keep telling myself to just push through it but maybe i should actually go to counseling. thank you for being brave enough to post this amara
please go to counseling. i promise you it's not as scary as it seems. the hardest part is making the first appointment. after that it just becomes part of your routine. you deserve support 💛
